Anxious For The Future

18 x 24 inches
Pastel pencil on mixed media paper

The Anxious for the Future was my own research into the term “climate anxiety” and introspection on a world marred by climate change. To demonstrate this psychological turmoil, I composed a self-portrait where I am viewing the earth’s rapidly-changing weather; I even intersplice my reflection with an image of the wildfires that occurred in my home state of New Jersey. My piece performs the critical first step of acknowledging the raging eco-anxiety that plagues my generation so that we can move forward in creating a healthier, safer planet.
